Average Starting Salaries
Don't be easily misled...
The average starting salaries do vary for many different professions. They even vary for different university for the same professions so one needs to look at the statistics with a critical eye. For example, there is very high demand for mining engineers at the moment due to the China's demand for iron ore and other natural resources. The national median starting salary for mining graduates in 2004 was $57,000. The median for UNSW mining graduates was roughly $70,000. Visit mining.unsw.edu.au for more information.
