Improve your Search Engine Rank

11 Ways to Make Good Friends with Search Engines

8. Body Text

Search engines love content so make sure you have some! Do try to stick to 100 - 300 words for each page. You don't need to stick to these numbers obsessively, but it's a good range to keep in mind. If you're going to write a long article, it's best to split it up into pages. It makes it easier to navigate for the user too.

9. Text Formatting

By placing emphasis on keywords, you help Google understand which keywords are important & relevant on your page. The way you do this is by using:

*the H1,H2,H3 tags
*the bold format
*make it italicized
*use bullet lists

10. Images

Try not to use too many images as it takes longer too load. Use text instead of image buttons when you can. For every image that you do use, always fill in the ALT attribute for the <IMG> tag. ALT (which meant alternative text) are read by search engines in general for additional information. Here's an example for a picture of a computer monitor:

<IMG SRC="computer-monitor.jpg" ALT="Computer Monitor - New & very popular in the current market">

11. Traffic

Although this one's at the bottom, it's one of the most important element. The topic of traffic deserves several pages on its own due to the many different ways you can go about approaching it. Getting mixed up with the wrong websites (eg. websites that brings traffic to your site for a fee or for free) could leave your website blacklisted, so you need to approach these sorts of sites with caution. Generally, links from related sites (that do fairly well) very well, not just in getting more traffic to your, but also in boosting up your pagerank & effectively getting you a higher rank on search results.

You can check how well your site is doing for certain keywords at www.googlerankings.com for Google, MSN & Yahoo!

ARELIS is a very nice software to use to help you find sites that are related to yours and allows you to set up link exchanges. You can visit their site here: www.Axandra.com
